The Ender Dragon is a type of BOSS that can be spawned in the Dragon's Nest on The End.
Location
The Ender Dragon is summoned by placing 8 Summoning Eyes or 8
Awakened Summoning Eyes in the altar at the center of the Dragon's Nest. The summoning eyes cannot be mismatched meaning you cannot place both types at the same time. When an Ender Dragon is summoned the type is randomly chosen:
Dragon Type | Weight | Spawn Chance | SkyBlock XPOne time reward after participating in a dragon fight. |
---|---|---|---|
Protector | 40 | 16% | +25 SkyBlock XP |
Old | 40 | 16% | +25 SkyBlock XP |
Unstable | 40 | 16% | +25 SkyBlock XP |
Young | 40 | 16% | +25 SkyBlock XP |

Summoning Eyes
Once 8 Summoning Eyes are placed a Boss fight will begin:
- The gate to the Dragon's Nest will close.
Gregory will spawn near the gate, allowing players to purchase
Flint Arrows and a
Decent Bow for an increased price.
- The Dragon Egg will explode, revealing a randomly selected [Lv100] Ender Dragon/Alpha to be fought.
- If at least 7 of the eyes have been
Recombobulated to LEGENDARY, a Superior dragon is guaranteed to spawn.
Awakened Summoning Eyes
Once 8 Awakened Summoning Eyes are placed a Boss fight will begin:
- The gate to the Dragon's Nest will close.
Gregory will spawn near the gate, allowing players to purchase
Flint Arrows and a
Decent Bow for an increased price.
- The Dragon Egg will explode, revealing the type of Boss fight:

Behavior
Ender Dragons have a variety of abilities that they will use throughout the fight. Typically, they will spend the majority of their time flying around in the sky, giving time for players to attack them.
When they are below half health, attacks will deal +50% Damage. When they are defeated,
Gregory leaves, and all hostile mobs are removed for a brief period of time.

Ender Crystals
Once the [Lv100] Ender Dragon/Alpha spawns, 5 Ender Crystals will spawn in any of the 10 fixed locations. Each crystal connected to the dragon heals it for 0.3% of their maximum Health every second.
Every tick, there is a 10% chance that the dragon re-calculates which crystals should be connected or not. When this happens, crystals within 32 blocks are tethered, and any further away lose their connection.
If a crystal is destroyed by a player, a Crystal Fragment is dropped, or given to the player if they have the Auto-pickup perk unlocked, and they are credited with 1,000
Damage dealt to the dragon. This damage does not actually hurt the dragon.
Ender Crystals respawn between 60 and 120 seconds after being destroyed. Crystals can only spawn up to a maximum of 3 times each.
Loot
Dragon loot is rolled with a quality system. The formula for calculating quality is as follows:
Alternatively:
- Every
Summoning Eye placed grants 100 Quality.
- You gain up to 100 Quality based on damage dealt compared to the top damager.e.g. 1st place damage is 5M, you do 4M
This would reward you with 80 Quality. - Based on the table below, you gain up to 200 additional quality, plus a set amount of additional
Ender Pearls and
Enchanted Ender Pearls.
Placement | Base Quality | Ender Pearls | Enchanted Ender Pearls |
---|---|---|---|
First | 200 | 30 | 7 |
Second | 175 | 25 | 6 |
Third | 150 | 22 | 5 |
Fourth | 125 | 20 | 4 |
Fifth | 110 | 18 | 3 |
Sixth to Eighth | 100 | 15 | 2 |
Ninth or Tenth | 90 | 15 | 2 |
11th or 12th | 80 | 15 | 2 |
13th - 18th | 70 | 12 | 1 |
19th - 25th | 70 | 10 | 0 |
>1 Damage | 70 | 8 | 0 |
<1 Damage | 10 | 5 | 0 |
Most of the items are considered "unique", meaning they can only be rolled once by one player.
- Unique items are rolled from the highest to lowest quality requirement, or from top to bottom on the tables.
- All players who have enough quality for each unique item get a chance at that item. If more than one person successfully roll for the it, only one of them will get it, chosen randomly but each player is equally likely.
- A player can only get one unique item. When they do, that item's quality is removed from their total quality, and once all unique items are rolled, the remaining amount is filled with non-unique items.
When a player is rolling for an item, if it's base drop rate is 5% or less, then its drop rate is multiplied by their Magic Find.
However, if the item is a Pet, then Pet Luck is also used.
The loot tables for each Dragon type can be seen as follows:
- Primal
- Superior
- Strong
- Unstable
- Young
- Wise
- Old
- Protector

Each dragon gives 5 Dragon Essence when killed, apart from Superior and Primal which gives 10
Dragon Essence.
Trivia
- Killing an Ender Dragon for the first time unlocks the Achievement "Dragon Slayer".
- Surviving a blast from the Unstable Dragon for the first time unlocks the Achievement "Explosive Ending".
- Because the Superior Dragon has an extra available drop (
Dragon Horn) which rolls before the
Ender Dragon Pet does, the pet actually has a significantly lower chance of dropping.
- Sometimes, the dragon will stop moving or cast abilities while outside of the Dragon's Nest.
- Provided no one that places any eyes does, the person who achieves #2 damage dealt on an Unstable Dragon will always drop a travel scroll - as long as they deal at least 75% of #1 damage.
