Mining is one of the core player Skills players can level up as they earn Mining XP.
The max level of Mining is 60 and you start at level 0.

Spelunker

Spelunker is the skill's ability which is exclusively upgraded by increasing your Mining Skill. For every level of Spelunker you gain an additional +4 Mining Fortune, which means at Mining level 50, you gain +200 Mining Fortune, and at Mining level 60, you gain +240 Mining Fortune.

SkyBlock Mining

Mining is unique in Hypixel SkyBlock due to SkyBlock's custom mining technology. It introduces Breaking Power and Mining Speed to all Pickaxes and Drills, and provides Mining Fortune for gaining additional resources when mining different blocks.
Breaking Power dictates what blocks can be broken by the Pickaxe or Drill.

Breaking Power

The Breaking Power of a pickaxe can break all block types of the previous levels. For example, a Stone Pickaxe will be able to break Iron Ore, as well as Stone and Coal Ore.
Breaking Power can range from 0 to 10. Certain blocks require a minimum Breaking Power in order to be broken.

Mining Speed

Hypixel SkyBlock's custom mining technology allows players to break blocks at custom speeds. Blocks such as Titanium or Mithril in the Dwarven Mines require a high level of Breaking Power, as well as Mining Speed in order to mine ores efficiently.

Mining Fortune is a player stat that grants players additional drops while mining.

Mining Abilities

Mining Abilities can be accessed when the player reaches Heart of the Mountain tier 3, and uses their Token of the Mountain to unlock them. There are currently 4 Mining Abilities.

If the player owns more than 1 Mining Abilities, they are able to swap between them in the Heart of the Mountain.
The perk Sky Mall in the Heart of the Mountain can possibly reduce Mining Ability cooldowns by 20%.
Achieving Peak of the Mountain Tier 1 will provide +1 Mining Ability level for either ability.

Mining XP Gain

You get Mining XP from mining naturally generated blocks. Blocks placed down by the player will not give Mining XP. How much Mining XP a block gives depends on its rarity and hardness.

Different blocks will require different amounts of Breaking Power to break, and different pickaxes have different breaking powers. Mining speed increases the speed at which you mine the ore.
