Fight Mechanics
There are four different stages in the Catacombs Floor VII boss fight, each of which has its own respective bosses that have to be fought in order to progress to the next stage or finish the Dungeon.
Phase 1 - Maxor
Maxor | |||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| |||||||||||||
Maxor is located in a room containing lava and parkour, with 2 Power Crystals near the top of the room. Maxor will spawn his Withermancers while trying to attack the players by approaching. Once the players have retrieved the crystals and lured Maxor to the pillar, the players can damage him.
The players will have to do all of this again, as Maxor will only be able to take up to half of its Health as Damage. Once the players kill Maxor, the room's ground will collapse and the second phase will begin.
Maxor has a variety of attacks it uses on the player:
Attack Name | Attack Mechanics |
---|---|
Default Attack | Each of Maxor's three heads rapidly shoots out skulls at the player, dealing Damage and knockback. |
Rapid Wither Skulls | Maxor will freeze in place and spawn multiple sets of wither skulls every second that quickly fly towards nearby players dealing Damage and knockback. |
Wither TNT | Maxor will spawn TNT every 5 seconds which will explode after several seconds, dealing knockback and Damage to nearby players. |
Maxor's Frenzy | Maxor will become enraged after standing in the red beacon after both Power Crystals have been placed, and will begin sending off multiple explosions centered around him, dealing massive amounts of Damage to nearby players. |
Shadow Wave | Maxor will deal AOE damage every few seconds to nearby players for a short period of time after being enraged. |
Summon Minions | Maxor will summon mobs to fight the player. These can be Wither Miners or Wither Guards. |
Phase 2 - Storm
Storm | |||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| |||||||||||||
Players drop down to a larger room containing four different pillars, a giant lava moat, dozens of Wither Miners and Wither Guards, and 4 Shadow Assassins waiting in the four corners of the room. Storm will start off by slowly flying around to all four pillars, after which he will start flying towards players and attacking them.
Players will need to distract Storm, while a member of the team steps on the pressure pads located in the corners of the room. If Storm is hit by a pressure pad moving down, he becomes temporarily stunned and vulnerable.
Once players crush and damage Storm enough at least two times, or use all three pressure pads excluding the Red Pad, Storm will be killed and the red pillar will be destroyed, breaking the ground beneath it allowing the player to continue onto the third phase.
Storm has a variety of attacks it uses on the player:
Attack Name | Attack Mechanics |
---|---|
Default Attack | Each of Storm's three heads rapidly shoots out skulls at the player, dealing Damage and knockback. |
Lightning Fireball | Storm will shoot fireballs at players, dealing knockback and Damage to them on impact. |
Static Field | Storm will strike dozens of lightning strikes around the arena, deal Damage to players who get hit by them. |
Storm's Frenzy | Storm will become enraged after being crushed by a downwards moving pillar, after which he will begin sending off multiple explosions centered around him, dealing massive amounts of Damage to nearby players. |
Giga Lightning | Storm will fly up and freeze in place, stop attacking players, and charge up over a period of 10 seconds, or 5 seconds in master mode. A timer will appear on players' screens which will count down, and once the timer hits 0, Storm will strike lightning throughout the entire arena, instantly killing players who are not standing under working pillars.
After this, Storm will temporarily be able to be crushed by downwards-moving pillars, which will allow you to attack him even further. If enough time has passed and Storm has not been killed, he will perform this attack again. |
Summon Minions | Storm will summon mobs to fight the player. These can be Withermancers, Wither Miners, or Wither Guards. |
Phase 3 - Goldor
Goldor | |||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| |||||||||||||
Players travel down yet another layer, this time into a corridor that outlines a square. Goldor will spawn just to the right of where players drop down. During this phase, Goldor cannot take damage, but can slowly damage players using various attacks, but can be slowed slightly.
If players are unable to keep up with the terminals and fall behind, Goldor will do high amounts of damage to the player. Players must complete all the terminals and run into the final doorway that opens up. Once it opens, Goldor will start closing in on the players, but will also become damageable. Successfully killing Goldor in time will send the players to the fourth phase.
Goldor has a variety of attacks it uses on the player:
Attack Name | Attack Mechanics |
---|---|
Greatsword | 2-4 giant golden swords will float around in circles around Goldor. These swords are used in the following two attacks and regenerate after 5 seconds: |
Instant Kill | Players that are behind Goldor's path of movement will be instantly killed. |
Phase 4 - Necron
Necron | |||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| |||||||||||||
This phase starts with players dropping into a large circular room with a platform in the center surrounded by lava and several other platforms. The players will land on the outer platforms, only to begin floating above them as Necron is introduced and the starting platform is destroyed. Shortly after this, players will be free to move around and attack Necron. Falling into the lava will bounce the player up, but deal immense amounts of Damage.
Necron will then start flying toward players and attacking them, through the use of various abilities listed below. After enough Damage is taken, Necron will blind each player for several seconds and teleport to the middle of the room and continue to use other abilities.
Killing Necron in Dungeon’s standard mode will complete the Dungeon. However, upon defeating Necron in Master Mode, the center platform will raise allowing players to progress into the fifth phase.
Necron has a variety of attacks it uses on the player:
Attack Name | Attack Mechanics |
---|---|
Default Attack | Each of Necron's three heads rapidly shoots out skulls at the player, dealing even more Damage and knockback than Maxor and Storm. |
Nuclear Frenzy | Necron will flee to the center platform and begin exploding every second. The size of the explosion will increase as it doesn't take damage, and decrease as it does. If explosion effects are disabled by the player, the size of the explosion is indicated by a flat ring of fire particles surrounding Necron. If the size of the explosion is reduced enough, Necron will stop exploding and begin using other attacks. |
Moving Beams | Necron will freeze in the air near the center platform and spawn in 4 tall sets of guardian beams. These beams will slowly rotate around Necron for 15 seconds. Players will take 25% of their maximum Health as True Damage when they pass through the beams. |
Empowered Greatsword | Necron will freeze in the air near the center platform and spawn in 4 giant diamond swords, similar to those of Goldor. The swords will rotate around Necron, and new ones will appear very frequently, nearly every second. Each second a sword will fly towards a random player, dealing immense Damage and knockback on impact. |
Lightning Fireball and Static Field | Necron will occasionally use the same ability that Storm has and shoot fireballs at players, as well as strike dozens of lightning strikes around the arena, dealing Damage to players who get hit by them. |
Necron's Frenzy | Necron will occasionally freeze in place and start shooting nearly a dozen wither skulls at players every second, dealing immense Damage and knockback on impact. |
Phase 5 - Wither King (Master Mode Only)
Wither King | |
---|---|
Category | Boss |
The Wither King is found in the fifth and final stage of the boss fight, but only in Master Mode. He is an abnormally large Wither, with multiple tentacles flying around him at all times.
The fifth phase starts with Necron's center lava platform being pulled up from the roof and the fifth stage room being revealed. Players will drop down and have to collect the 5 different Corrupted Relics, each of which has different colors and must be placed at the Wither King's altar.
Withered Dragon | |
---|---|
Category | Dungeon Mob |
Stats | 900,000,000 Health 800,000 Damage 3,700 Defense |
Coins | 1 Coin |
EXP Orbs | 1,000 EXP Orbs |
Shortly after all the relics are placed, Withered Dragons will begin to start spawning, one by one about 30 seconds apart. These dragons all have specific colors and names, and they can be identified from the ring of blocks under their heads. They also have a corresponding statue with the same blocks near the top of it, which are important to identify.
Two dragons will spawn at the start, and upcoming spawns can be indicated by the set of colored particles below the type of dragon's corresponding statue. Dragons that have a statue in place will be prioritized over ones with destroyed statues.
Each type of dragon has to be killed at least once next to its corresponding statue for the boss fight to be successfully completed. Dragons that are within close enough range of their statues to destroy them have particles around them indicating it. The dragons will usually cycle around the boss fight arena, with it having short periods of time where it's close enough to its statue to not respawn when killed. There are also other various attacks, as listed below.
Colored Name | Special Behavior |
---|---|
Apex | Will swoop down and attack random players, dealing massive amounts of Damage and knockback on impact. |
Soul | Will frequently teleport to random locations in the arena, typically near various statues, including its own every 3 teleports. Does not fly around. |
Flame | Shoots players with fireballs as well as occasionally swoop down towards the ground leaving a path of fire behind. |
Ice | Will occasionally swoop down towards the ground and make a path of ice, as well as deal massive damage to anything near it, as well as randomly trap players in a cube of ice blocks. Players who stand on the paths of ice will be slowed down tremendously, making it near impossible to move. |
Power | Will occasionally fly towards the center of the arena and try and perform a Mega TNT attack, which will deal massive amounts of True Damage to anyone near the center of the arena. This attack can be stopped if enough damage is dealt in its build-up time. |
Reaching this stage of the boss fight means your Dungeon Score will have no effect on the types of Dungeon Reward Chests you'll be able to claim. If all 5 dragons are alive at once, or if all players die, the run will end as a fail, but all chests up to the Obsidian Dungeon Reward Chest will be claimable. If all 5 dragons are killed, all chests will be available.
The Wither King has a variety of attacks it uses on the player:
Attack Name | Attack Mechanics |
---|---|
Reel In | Players who get too close to the Wither King will be pulled in by one of its tentacles and instantly killed. |
Atomizing Ray | The Wither King will shoot a long beam from its primary head and look throughout the arena, which will deal millions of Damage to players standing within it. |
Dimensional Slash | The Wither King will randomly strike players with lightning dealing millions of Damage. |

Dialogue
Maxor
- WELL WELL WELL LOOK WHO’S HERE!
- I’VE BEEN TOLD I COULD HAVE A BIT OF FUN WITH YOU.
- DON’T DISAPPOINT ME, I HAVEN’T HAD A GOOD FIGHT IN A WHILE.
- YOUR WEAPONS CAN’T PIERCE THROUGH MY SHIELD!
- I HOPE YOU LIKE EXPLOSIONS TOO!
- MY MINIONS WILL HAVE TO WIPE THE FLOOR AFTER I’M DONE WITH YOU ALL!
- YOUR MOBILITY TRICKS DON’T WORK IN MY DOMAIN!
- Eat Wither Skulls, scum!
- How about you taste some rapid fire Wither Skulls!
- Time for me to blast you away for good!
- YOU TRICKED ME!
- THAT BEAM! IT HURTS! IT HURTS!!
- FINALLY! This took way too long.
- Now that you're a Ghost, can you help me clean up?
- I’M TOO YOUNG TO DIE AGAIN!
- I’LL MAKE YOU REMEMBER MY DEATH!!
Storm
- Pathetic Maxor, just like expected.
- Don’t boast about beating this simple minded Wither.
- My abilities are unparalleled, in many ways I am the last bastion.
- The memory of your death will be your fondest, focus up!
- The power of lightning is quite phenomenal. A single strike can vapourise a person whole.
- I'd be happy to show you what that's like!
- THAT WAS ONLY IN MY WAY!
- Slowing me down will be your greatest accomplishment!
- This factory is too small for me!
- Bahahaha! Not a single intact pillar remains!
- Rejoice, your last moments are with me and my lightning.
- The Age of Men is over, we are creating tens, hundreds of withers!!
- Fool, I'd hide under something next time if I were you!
- The Age of Men is over, we are creating tens, hundreds of withers!!
- Not just your land, but every kingdom will soon be ruled by our army of undead!
- No more adventurers, no more heroes, death and thunder!
- The days are numbered until I am finally unleashed again on the world!
- ENERGY HEED MY CALL!
- THUNDER LET ME BE YOUR CATALYST!
- FINALLY! This took way too long.
- Now that you're a Ghost, can you help me clean up?
- I should have known that I stood no chance.
- At least my son died by your hands.
Goldor
- Don't think you can hide from me (player)
- Who dares trespass into my domain?
- Little ants, plotting and scheming, thinking they are invincible…
- I won’t let you break the factory core, I gave my life to my Master.
- No one matches me in close quarters.
- You have done it, you destroyed the factory…
- But you have nowhere to hide anymore!
- YOU ARE FACE TO FACE WITH GOLDOR!
- Come closer!
- CLOSER!
- Closer to me!
- You are breaking precious materials, unforgivable.
- Do you really think we won’t repair everything? Your impact will be minuscule!
- I am the death zone, you are smart to flee.
- Slowing me down only prolongs your pain!
- You can't damage me, you can barely slow me down!
- There is no stopping me down there!
- Stop touching those terminals!
- Punishment served, nothing survives my reach.
- FINALLY! This took way too long.
- Now that you're a Ghost, can you help me clean up?
- ...
- Necron, forgive me.
Necron
Intro Dialogue (Did Not Beat Boss Before)
- Finally, I heard so much about you. The Eye likes you very much.
- You went further than any human before, congratulations.
- I'm afraid, your journey ends now.
- My master and I spent centuries building this factory...and this army.
- I won't allow you to destroy it all now.
- Goodbye.
Intro Dialogue (Beat Boss Before)
- You went further than any human before, congratulations.
- I'm afraid, your journey ends now.
- Goodbye.
Intro Phase Over
- That's a very impressive trick. I guess I'll have to handle this myself.
- Fight for your life!
- Show me how you beat Storm!!!
- Not just your Village, but the whole world will end!
- I - Necron - was destined to rule over Mankind! Dead or Alive!
- The Catacombs made you stronger, but can you beat me?!
- You merely adopted the Catacombs! I was molded by them!
- Sometimes when you have a problem, you just need to destroy it all and start again.
- WITNESS MY RAW NUCLEAR POWER!
- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
- HASTA LA VISTA, BABY!
- IF YOU WANT TO STAY COOL, DON'T LOOK!
- I ensure you, these blades are far sharper than Goldor's ever were.
- FINALLY! This took way too long.
- Now that you're a Ghost, can you help me clean up?
- All this, for nothing...
- I understand your words now, my master.
- The Catacombs... are no more.
Wither King (Master Mode Only)
- Ohhh?
- Awakening me from my slumber, what a strange choice.
- I have nothing left to fight for, I finally had peace.
- You.. again?
- I no longer wish to fight, but I know that will not stop you.
- We will decide it all, here, now.
- You.. again?
- I no longer wish to fight, but I know that will not stop you.
- We will decide it all, here, now.
- My enemies are now my strongest allies!
- Does that mean Necron is no more? I have been a mediocre master.
- Storm was my favorite sparring partner, you must have enjoyed fighting him!
- This world isn’t worth fighting for, how can you be so determined?
- Mortals fighting against supreme beings, what a moving spectacle.
- I enjoy your passion, if the circumstances had been different, we could have been friends.
- I have worked on this spell for centuries.
- Some of you do have some talent, I can feel it, the other ones not so much.
- Did you forget? I am invincible!
- You don’t have your sword this time!
- You are wasting your time.
- Futile.
- You just made a terrible mistake!
- I am not impressed.
- Your skills have faded humans.
- Oh, this one hurts!
- I have more of those.
- My soul is disposable.
- Thank you for coming all the way here.
- Now I will truly have peace.
- Let’s enjoy your final moments in silence.
- Incredible. You did what I couldn't do myself.
- In a way I should thank you, I lost all hopes centuries ago that it would ever end.
- I hope you’ll become the Heroes I could never be.
- So long champions of this mad world!
- My strengths are depleting, this… this is it…
Trivia
- Near the beginning of the release, players could gain temporary or permanent flight by using Tarantula Boots or Spirit Boots at the proper time.
- Necron's name is likely derived from the word 'Necronomicon' -- a fictional grimoire featured in H.P. Lovecraft's works and in many later films/books.
