He begins with some dialogue and then starts spawning his undeads that he picks from the walls in the blood room. Their heads will travel to the center of the room where they will spawn. Players have to kill the undeads to damage The Watcher. He cannot be killed the traditional way, and will only lose health when his undeads are killed. If the players try to attack The Watcher he will shoot a laser at them dealing damage. | ||

The Watcher is the boss of the Catacombs Entrance floor and the miniboss in every following floor's blood room that the players have to defeat to enter the boss fight.
Fight Mechanics
The Watcher spawns as soon as the blood room is opened with the blood key.
Floor II
The Watcher's undeads now have their own abilities such as the Mute turning the sounds off for the player (effectively muting the player), and the Parasite spawning Silverfish after he dies. The Watcher announces this by including "I have done some experiments to develop new abilities for my Skulls." in his spawning dialogue. See Perks under Watcher Undeads below to view the full list.
Floor III
Along with the other Undeads, The Watcher will also spawn Bonzo, in his second phase, at the beginning of the fight. He will shoot his balloons at the players if not killed quickly enough. Instead of having 250k ❤ Health, he has 300k ❤ Health.
Floor IV
Watchful Eye | |
---|---|
Category | Dungeon Mob |
Watchful Eyes spawn in groups of two, alongside the Watcher in the Catacombs Floor IV and above. They are completely passive and will not do anything unless the player manages to stand on a block above Y=64, in which case they will fire a laser at a player which deals 25% of their max Health as True Damage per second.
Scarf also has a chance of spawning along with the Undeads instead of Bonzo. He will use his abilities to try to kill the players.
Floor V
The Undeads spawned by The Watcher now have one of six special modifiers that change their behavior. These modifiers can be both beneficial and disadvantageous to the player. The Watcher has six different types of dialogue which announce what type of modifier the Undeads will have in this dungeon run.
- Healthy Undeads have a higher Health and can drop Healing Tissues when they are killed.
- Stormy Undeads strike lightning on nearby players, and can drop Thunderlord VI when they are killed
- Golden Undeads drop Gold Essence when they are killed
- Speedy Undeads have a higher speed, and can drop dungeon potions (the ones sold by Ophelia) on the respective floor the player is playing when they are killed. These potions have a Speed level which is 1 higher than the ones sold by Ophelia.
- Stealthy Undeads are invisible, but their armor and their name can still be seen by the player
- Boomer Undeads wear a block of TNT on their head, and drop the primed TNT when they are killed. Any players nearby will be affected by the explosion. Superboom TNT is dropped from the explosion.
Floor VI
Livid, the boss from Floor V, has a chance of spawning instead of Scarf or Bonzo along with The Watcher's Undeads. Livid will use his teleport ability, as well as his blinding ability to try to kill the players.
Livid, Scarf, and Bonzo also have a chance of dropping their respective fragments: Livid, Scarf, and Bonzo fragments respectively.
As opposed to Floor V, The Watcher no longer has the dialogue telling the players what kind of modifier the Undeads will have.
Floor VII
The Watcher will now spawn one of the four giants (The Diamond Giant, L.A.S.R., Bigfoot, and Jolly Pink Giant) from Floor VI in the boss room before he spawns either Livid, Scarf, or Bonzo. All four pillars that were in the blood room before have been removed so that the giants do not get stuck. Each giant can drop their respective Precursor Relics (Diamante's Handle, L.A.S.R.'s Eye, Bigfoot's Lasso, Jolly Pink Rock).
Watcher Undeads
The stats shown are the base stats before they are modified. Mobs can spawn anywhere between -2,000 and +7,000 health after modifiers are applied.
All Watcher minibosses will not spawn when other Watcher minibosses spawn.

Dialogue
Entrance
"Congratulations, you made it through the Entrance."
"I have been watching you closely..."
"Unfortunately, for now, this is the end of the road."
"I sense many dead spirits eager to return to the living.."
"I will bring some of them back. Watch this."
Floor 1
"Ah, you've finally arrived."
"I have been watching you closely since we last met."
"I don't know if you are ready for what's behind this door."
"So I will decide if you are strong enough."
Floor 2
"Ah, we meet again..."
"I have done some experiments to develop new abilities for my Skulls."
"Let's see how you handle this!"
Floor 3
"So you made it this far... interesting."
"You are much stronger than I was expecting."
"Not to worry, I recently added a very fine piece to my collection!"
Floor 4
"You've managed to scratch and claw your way here, eh?"
"Don't even think about trying to outwit me this time!"
"My Watchful Eyes are keeping their...eyes...on you!"
Floor 5
"I'm starting to get tired of seeing you around here..."
"This time I've imbued my minions with special properties!"
Floor 6
"Oh.. hello?"
"You've arrived too early, I haven't even set up.."
"Anyway, let's fight.. I guess."
Floor 7
"Things feel a little more roomy now, eh?"
"I've knocked down those pillars to go for a more...open concept."
"Plus I needed to give my new friends some space to roam..."
Summon Lines
"This guy looks like a fighter."
"Hmmm... this one!"
"You'll do."
"Go, fight!"
"Go and live again!"
Damaged Lines
"Stop attacking me."
"I am not your enemy."
"Ouch.. just kidding."
"Don't make me shoot you."
"That tickles."
Kill Lines
"Not bad."
"That one was weak anyway."
"I'm impressed."
"Very nice.",
"Aw, I liked that one."
Wandering Soul Lines
"A Wandering Soul? Poor guy."
"A Wandering Soul? Don't you guys have a healer?"
"Wow, a Wandering Soul. Neat."
"Oof"
"Oops. Wasn't meant to revive that one."
Trivia
- Players that die while the blood room is open, or that were dead when it was opened are put on the wall and are respawned as a Wandering Soul that attacks players. If the player has not been respawned, and their respective Wandering Soul is killed, they will be revived.
- The Watcher is a reference from the game Terraria. The skull of The Watcher is similar to the Demon Eye. Both The Watcher and the Demon Eye drop an item called the Optical Lens.
- The color of The Watcher's eye changes from green all the way to a darker yellow as the player progresses through the Catacombs.
- In the Journal Entry "The Eye", Sadan's interest in necromancy is related to The Watcher.
