When placed on your private island, it will always be night-time. The time of the night can be changed by right-clicking on the item (from sunset to sunrise).

Obtaining

The Night Saver recipe is unlocked from Nether Quartz Collection II.

It is crafted using 3 Glass, 15 Nether Quartz and 3 Brown Mushrooms.
