Mining Speed is one of the Gathering Stats. It indicates how long it will take to break a given block. The more Mining Speed you have, the faster you break blocks.
Note: Mining Speed is effective on all island types except The Farming Islands, The Park, Hub, and Private Islands. On these islands, mining is essentially the same as regular vanilla mining.
Increasing Base Mining Speed
Base Mining Speed cannot be increased. Everyone has 0 base Mining Speed.
Increasing Bonus Mining Speed
Bonus Mining Speed can be increased in a variety of ways.

Pets
Pets can increase the Mining Speed of a player by various amounts and in a variety of ways, weather it be by granting a specific amount of Mining Speed or a multiplier on top of the player's current Mining Speed.

Weapons
The Daedalus Axe is the only weapon that can grant Mining Speed without any upgrades. And while it doesn't grant Mining Speed on its own, because it copies the stats of your selected Pet, it does if the pet is a Scatha Pet.
