Heart Of The Mountain

The Heart of the Mountain is a Mining skill tree.

As the Heart of the Mountain is leveled up, players will gain Tokens of the Mountain. These tokens can be spent buying various perks in the skill tree.
The majority of these perks only work on islands with the custom mining mechanic but some work on every location.

Crystal Hollows CrystalsCrystals are used to forge Gems into Perfect Gems. They can be found hidden within in Crystal Hollows. The Heart of the Mountain skill tree can be seen above, with all of its perks.

You can access the Heart of the Mountain menu from the Mining skill menu, while in the Dwarven Mines, the Crystal Hollows or by simply doing /HOTM.

Heart of the Mountain can be leveled up by completing various Commissions in the Dwarven Mines which award you +100 HOTM experience, in the Crystal Hollows which award you +400 HOTM experience, or by participating in various Major Events in the Dwarven Mines. Completing the Crystal Nucleus in the Crystal Hollows will award the player with +800 HOTM experience per completion, in addition to other rewards. The first 4 Commissions of a day also grant an extra +900 HOTM experience.

Heart of the Mountain can be reset, reimbursing all powder spent on the skill tree besides the Peak of the Mountain which can never be reset; making it a permanent perk. When you reset the skill tree you keep all of your HOTM tiers, and Tokens of the Mountain. The first reset is free and any resets afterwards cost 100,000 Coins. Resetting has a cooldown of 24 hours.

Trivia

Multiple Pickaxe Abilities can be unlocked at once, but only 1 can be selected at a time.
Daily Powder perk's reward is doubled if claimed while a 2x Powder event is active.
The achievement Peak of the Mountain is awarded upon reaching Heart of the Mountain tier 5.
Fortunate is the only perk to use ᠅ Mithril Powder at Heart of the Mountain tier 6 while other perks use ᠅ Gemstone Powder at that level.
A glitch existed for a short period of time that allowed players to unlock all Heart of the Mountain perks at the same time.
Contrary to the perk's description, Luck of the Cave does not increase the chance of a Powder Ghast spawning by 6% to 45%, but is actually a dependency and goes up to being 45x as likely at level 45, compared to level 1. In other words, the perk is significantly better than it is portrayed to be.
The name Heart Of The Mountain is derived from The Hobbit, where it is another name for the Arkenstone.
