Summary
Essence are non-physical items that can be used to upgrade Dungeon items and are dropped from mobs in Dungeons. You can check how much of each Essence in TAB in the Dungeon Hub or through either the Essence Shop or Essence Crafting in the GUI of Malik by clicking Your Essence. They are 7 types of Essence: Wither, Spider, Undead, Dragon, Gold, Diamond, and Ice Essence.
Obtaining
All types of Essence can be obtained through various methods. Some of the more common methods include: killing Dungeon Mobs, salvaging Dungeon Items, and opening Dungeon Reward Chests. Below is a more detailed list of sources for each type of essence.
Wither Essence

Spider Essence
- Killing Lonely Spiders and Cellar Spiders in Dungeons

- Killing Crypt Undeads in Catacombs Entrance and Catacombs Floor I
- Killing Prince Valentin, Nicholas, Pieter, Alexander, Christian, Marius, Bernhard, or Friedrich
- Salvaging Dungeon items that require Undead Essence to be upgraded.
Dragon Essence
- Killing Lost Adventurers
- Killing Redstone Warriors
- Salvaging Dungeon items that require Dragon Essence to be upgraded.
Gold Essence
- Killing King Midas
- Killing Golden mobs from the Blood Room in Catacombs Floor V and above

Salvaging
Malik allows you to salvage Dungeon Items, granting you Essence. The amount of Essence you receive from salvaging an item depends on the stats of the item. For every ✪ on the item, the amount of Essence you receive increases by 2.

Usage
Essence Crafting
Essence can be used to convert a selection of normal items into Dungeon items and to upgrade Dungeon items which is shown by adding a ✪ after the item name, capping at 5✪ (from Essence). This is done through the Essence Crafting menu in Malik.

Essence Shop
Undead Essence and Wither Essence can be used in the Essence Shop to gain buffs in The Catacombs and buffs to your stats respectively.
