The Sleeping Eye is an EPIC Item.
Obtaining
A Sleeping Eye is created upon placing a Summoning Eye in the Ender Altar.
Usage
Sleeping Eyes act as a placeholder while Summoning Eyes are placed. They turn into Remnants of the Eye when an Ender Dragon spawns, or can be converted back into Summoning Eyes prior to the Ender Dragon spawning.
Recovering Summoning Eyes
If the Ender Dragon has not yet spawned, players can recover their own Summoning Eyes by right-clicking them while holding a Sleeping Eye. The Summoning Eye is then removed from its End Portal Frame and given back to the player, replacing the Sleeping Eye in their inventory. There is a cooldown of 15 seconds between recovering each Summoning Eye. Leaving The End island also returns any placed Summoning Eyes in the same way except without any cooldown.
When recovering a Summoning Eye: "You recovered a Summoning Eye!"
When attempting to recover someone else's Summoning Eye: "You can only recover Summoning Eyes that you placed!"
Remnants of the Eye
Once an Ender Dragon spawns, all Sleeping Eyes in a player's inventory turn into Remnants of the Eye.
When the player has 1 Sleeping Eye in their inventory: "Your Sleeping Eye has been awoken by the magic of the Dragon. It is now a Remnant of the Eye!"
When the player has 2+ Sleeping Eyes in their inventory: "Your Sleeping Eyes have been awoken by the magic of the Dragon. They are now Remnants of the Eye!"
Trivia
The texture of a Sleeping Eye is based on an Enderman Spawn Egg; a vanilla Minecraft item.
