Hello,
Do you consider yourself a bit of an archaeologist? Do you like roaming museums for hours on end? Well even if you don't, this update is still right for you!
The Museum
The Museum is located on the right side of the Mountain in the Hub. Once there you can talk to the Curator who is in desperate need to fill his Museum. He's looking for a list of items in particular, and if you donate those items to him, you'll be able to display them on the stands.
There are 4 types of items you can donate: Weapons, Armors, Rarities, and some special items.
The first 3 types of items will grant your rewards, while special items are just for bragging rights.
You can already see some of the rewards in the Curator Menu, but currently, the rewards are "coming soon." Due to the nature of some of the rewards, and because we are in the process of changing many parts of the game, we decided to release the Museum first, then later update the Museum with the rewards in an upcoming update.
Every important update from now will add new Museum items and each donation will increase the rewards.
Item rankings
Most items in the game have a date of creation, which is the exact moment that the item was created for the first time. Items placed in the museum will display this creation date. If your item is one of the first 1,000 of that type to be created in SkyBlock's history, it will show your item creation ranking above the item when you display it in your museum. Only the 1,000 oldest items will get this line. Eventually this leaderboard will settle as more players donate older and older items, so don't start bragging too soon!
Soulbound System
Items donated to the Museum are soulbound or co-op soulbound, depending on if you are in a coop or playing solo. Soulbound items are new types of items that cannot be traded in any way. Once the item is soulbound, it will be yours forever. Along the same lines, co-op soulbound means you can trade it with your coop members, but no one else.
You have to choose carefully before deciding to donate an item to the Museum, as you won't be able to sell it anymore. You will, however, still be able to use the donated item.
Donating any item in the special category doesn't create soulbound items, so you'll still be able to trade those.
The Soulbound System is also there to serve as an item sink, lowering the amount of those items in the economy.
Eleanor Q. Goldsworth III
The Museum Curator calls her an assistant, but Eleanor works for a much more important person. For the modest sum of 10 million Coins, Eleanor will evaluate your Museum and grant you a rank and rewards based on this evaluation.
But once again, most of the rewards are Coming Soon™
For now each of the 5 ranks will unlock bank upgrades, including 2 new ones.
If you already purchased bank upgrades, do not worry you still have them.
A brief moment at the top
That's it for now for the update, but we do have a couple other things to talk about...
Tyashoi Alchemist
Some of you probably noticed the appearance of the new Tyashoi Alchemist in the Village. He will stay there for another 5 days and can reward players with a fun new armor set. This is a one time event, but it isn't anywhere near the scale of the Dante event. We simply felt like doing a community puzzle for Halloween.
After experimenting a bit with the different puzzles we learned a decent amount and now have a better grasp of the type of hunts the community likes. If you enjoy it, he will come back later with much harder puzzles, less guessing, and more deduction.
Upcoming Plans
It might come as a shock, but we have been hard at work with updates and R&D lately.
Nether Revamp
The next combat island is making good progress and will be the first of the next three major updates to release. The Fishing and Foraging updates will release at a later date.
1.0 and other various updates
After the release of the Design Threads, we started working on multiple of the features presented in those threads, such as the Museum, and will be releasing bits of the updates constantly on the way to 1.0.
In fact, the 1.0 update will mostly present things that we didn't even talk about in the design threads: new content.
The next step after the Museum is the SkyBlock Level System, Colored Dyes, Rusty's lost and found, Dungeon QoL, and a couple other features we would like to release before the end of the year.
On top of that, we started working on a couple secret updates that we hope to release by the end of the year. No spoilers.
