Factions, which exist solely on the Crimson Isle, are a group of NPCs, Zones, Quests, and more.
Overview
The two factions that exist are the Mage Faction and the Barbarian Faction, both of which are rivals to one another.
You can join a Faction by speaking to Elle, who can be found by the spawn location on the Crimson Isle in the Stronghold.
Mage Faction
The Mage Faction residents can be found primarily throughout Scarleton and the Cathedral area.

The Barbarian Faction residents can be found primarily throughout Dragontail.

Reputation
Reputation is a stat that can be viewed on your tab list when you are part of any faction. Gaining higher reputation unlocks new features in the faction, and the max reputation value is 12,000.
Reputation can be gained through various means, most of which are available once per day. It can be lost by killing mobs of the player's associated faction. Killing these mobs will also raise the reputation of the opposing faction if your current reputation with that faction is negative.
At various threshholds a player's title with the faction will change, which opens up more options in the faction shop and sometimes grants more difficult daily challenges.
Higher reputation will also allow for the player to craft higher level minions of the associated faction (Red Sand Minion for Barbarian Faction and Mycelium Minion for Mage Faction)
