Professor Robot is an NPC in the Lost Precursor City, a zone within the Crystal Hollows.
He asks the player to deliver six components needed to repair a giant robot. This robot, known as Automaton Prime, is located behind Professor Robot and contains the Sapphire Crystal.

[NPC] Professor Robot: The inhabitants, Precursors as they were once called, laid the foundations for future technological advancements and new discoveries. [NPC] Professor Robot: However, they have been extinct for eons - only leaving the remnants of the Automatons behind. [NPC] Professor Robot: One rather peculiar discovery is Automaton Prime - the giant robot towering above me. The exact purpose of it is unknown, although it appears to be guarding something. [NPC] Professor Robot: There seem to be 6 key components to the giant that are missing. [NPC] Professor Robot: Each part - the Electron Transmitter, FTX 3070, Robotron Reflector, Superlite Motor, Control Switch, and a Synthetic Heart - plays a distinctive role in the creation of this behemoth.
