The Mage Faction is one of the two Factions players can join to complete quests and gain Reputation.
Overview
The Mage Faction is one of the two Factions on the Crimson Isle and the antithesis of the Barbarian Faction. Residents of the Mage Faction can be found in Scarleton.
Joining
There are multiple ways to join the Mage Faction. If you are not part of a Faction already, then you first have to speak to Elle and give them the requested items, then speak to multiple NPCs in Scarleton and Dragontail, and finally speak to Elle again to decide which Faction to join.
If you are already a part of the Barbarian Faction and have not previously been a part of the Mage Faction, then you have to speak to Elle by the spawn of the Crimson Isle.
If you have already been a member of the Mage Faction before and are thus currently a member of the Barbarian Faction, then you can go to the town board and rejoin there.
Questline
Each Faction consists of a large questline that involves speaking to various NPCs, collecting items, killing Minibosses and Bosses, and more.
The Mage Faction questline starts off with Elle granting the player a special version of the Maddox BatphoneThis version of it deletes when you leave the server, though you can get another one from Elle when you rejoin to give to Dean in the Cathedral. Upon presenting this, Dean mentions how they look similar to the Abiphones, which results in him giving you a letter of recommendation to give to Queen Nyx in the Throne Room. After presenting the letter, Queen Nyx will officially add you to the Mage Faction, granting you access to various NPCs throughout Scarleton.
The next task requires purchasing an Abiphone from Dean's cousin, Udel, at the Scarleton Bank. After calling Dean by adding them to your contacts, you have to speak to Elle by the spawn of the Crimson Isle, who talks about some research that was stolen from Dean. She then walks to the coordinates -612, 154, -893, which is located on the top of Dragontail towards The Bastion.
Once there, players must locate the lost research at -684, 124, -1048 all while avoiding guards that can notice if you walk too close to them or they hear you. All potion effects and abilities are disabled while trying to find the research, though this debuff only applies after Elle has said their full dialogue, meaning it's generally much easier to find the research before the dialogue is finished.
Shortly after finding the research, Elle will call you on your Abiphone and instruct you to speak with Dean. Dean will then thank you for obtaining the lost research, and then explain how their Apprentice is missing and how they're probably north of the Burning Desert.
You then have to meet with Elle and Captain Ahone at the Mage Council below the town board, where they discuss the apprentice and instruct you to go find them. Captain Ahone also gets added to your Abiphone. The apprentice can be found right next to The Dukedom at -521, 104, -916. Once found, you must call Ahone on your Abiphone.
After speaking to Dean and letting them know you found the apprentice, they will ask you to bring them 10 Magma Chunks and 5 Burning Eyes to help them continue progressing with their research.
Next, you have to speak to Igrupan and help find and return their 5 missing chickens. The chickens can either be punched or lured with seeds.
The five chickens can be found at the following coordinates:
-8, 92, -847 - By some Nether Wart outside of a building
-47, 112, -856 - Outside of the Cathedral entrance
-48, 103, -824 - On a set of Obsidian blocks
-62, 121, -817 - On a quartz statue
-23, 116, -812 - On the roof of Igrupan's House
The next step involves speaking to Odexar in Scarleton and taking the Volcanic Stonefish they give you to Odger at the top of the Blazing Volcano. However, Odger insults the quality of the fish and asks for a new stonefish, which can be fished in the volcano.
Once you give Odger the new fish, they return the favor by framing it into a new item to give back to Odexar.
After speaking to Dean, he explains that in order to complete his research, he needs several items from you that all drop from Minibosses in the following order:

The final stage of the quest involves Dean requesting a full backpack worth of Sulphur from Captain Ahone. They end up towards the Forgotten Skull on the far back of the island with Elle, alongside members of the Barbarian Faction. They realize that there's a creature who has been stealing the Sulphur, that being Kuudra.
Players must defeat Kuudra in order to finish the quest.
