Jacob's Farming Contest is an Event that takes place every 3 SkyBlock Days and lasts for 20 minutes. During the event, players have a choice of 3 crops to farm (which are picked at random), having to increase their Collection while competing against other players.
The players who increase their Collection the most within the time limit are rewarded with Medals.
Requirements
In order to participate in this event the player has to talk to Jacob NPC first and be at least Farming Level 10. At least 100 event crops have to be collected to be eligible for a reward.
Tips
Following is a list of tips that can help the player to achieve higher tiers of Medals during the Jacob's Farming Contest.
Pumpkins and
Melons
Pumpkins and Melons should be farmed at an angle, so the player can break two blocks at the same time. Note that the stems should be protected from accidental trampling by mobs and the player themselves. It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert Pumpkins into
Enchanted Pumpkins and
Polished Pumpkins, as well as
Melons into
Enchanted Melons and
Enchanted Melon Blocks. It is also recommended to use
Pumpkin Dicer/
Melon Dicer and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
- Crop Requirements (for fastest growth)
- The dirt has to be wet
Potatoes and
Carrots
Potatoes and Carrots should be farmed on the Garden on a layer with a few gaps of water (note that the water spreads in a radius of 4 blocks). It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert Potatoes into
Enchanted Potatoes and
Enchanted Baked Potatoes, as well as
Carrots into
Enchanted Carrots. It is also recommended to use Pythagorean Potato Hoe/Gauss Carrot Hoe and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
- Crop Requirements (for fastest growth)
- The dirt has to be wet
Wheat
Wheat is not as competitive as the other crops are, however if the player wants to achieve Gold in this collection they should build a Wheat layer on their Garden. It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert
Wheat into
Hay Bales and
Enchanted Hay Bales, as well as
Seeds into
Enchanted Seeds. The player should also use Euclid's Wheat Hoe and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
- Crop Requirements (for fastest growth)
- The dirt has to be wet
Cocoa Beans
Cocoa Beans should be farmed at an angle from a 3 block high Jungle Wood wall 2 blocks on top of the ground with the player having to face upwards. This way, the player will be able to break 3 blocks of Cocoa Beans or more per second. It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert
Cocoa Beans into

Cocoa Chopper and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.

Mushrooms
Mushrooms should be planted on the middle line of "H" shaped rows. This way the mushrooms from the middle line will spread on the lines at the sides. Note that mushrooms grow really slow and may not recover until the next Jacob's Farming Contest. It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert Brown Mushrooms into
Enchanted Brown Mushrooms, as well as
Red Mushrooms into
Enchanted Red Mushrooms. The player should also use

Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
- Crop Requirements (for fastest growth)
- None
Cactus
Cacti should be planted in a row of 6 blocks wide with the blocks following a zig-zag pattern, so the player can harvest 3 blocks from each side. It is recommended to use an Agronomy Sack, since Cactus cannot be crafted into
Enchanted Cactus Green nor into
Enchanted Cactus. The player should also use
Cactus Knife and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
- Crop Requirements (for fastest growth)
- None
Sugar Cane
Sugar Cane is a highly competitive crop, so it has to be farmed in the Garden. The player should farm 2 Sugar Cane rows at a time (without breaking the bottom block) with the water sources blocked from the top so the player does not fall into them. It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert
Sugar Cane into
Enchanted Sugar and
Enchanted Sugar Cane. The player should also use Turing Sugar Cane Hoe and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
- Crop Requirements (for fastest growth)
- The dirt/sand has to be placed next to a water source block
Nether Wart
Nether Wart is a highly competitive crop, so it has to be farmed in the Garden. It can either be farmed without breaks as a solid layer by running on top of it, or by flying next to the layer and breaking warts from the side. It is recommended to use a Personal Compactor to convert Nether Warts into
Enchanted Nether Warts and
Mutant Nether Wart. The player should also use Newton Nether Warts Hoe and LEGENDARY
Elephant Pet or
Mooshroom Cow Pet for the best result possible.
