| [NPC] Edelis: I'll tell you what I know, but there aren't many records from back then. [NPC] Edelis: As you probably know, we used to be pig farmers before the Volcano erupted. [NPC] Edelis: The sulphur turned the pigs into what they are now, and us farmers had nothing left to feed ourselves. [NPC] Edelis: It was a period of suffering, our people had to fight the new creatures of the island for monster meat. [NPC] Edelis: Many people died and we began to lose hope. [NPC] Edelis: During that time of despair we built the Cathedral. It was a monument to the Sky. [NPC] Edelis: We prayed and begged the Red Sky to turn blue again, and grace us with water. [NPC] Edelis: At the time, the newly formed Piglin tribes were starting to unite under the same banner. [NPC] Edelis: The tensions were rising and we could not afford a war, the end of the Taika people was near. [NPC] Edelis: That is when the Hero arrived. |

| [NPC] Edelis: They made us realize that the Sulphur also had an effect on us. [NPC] Edelis: Very much like the Piglins, we evolved into something greater. [NPC] Edelis: The Taika people were now gifted with magic. But we had no idea how to use it. [NPC] Edelis: The legend says that whoever is represented by this statue taught us spells and the basics of magic. [NPC] Edelis: Despair turned into hope. [NPC] Edelis: No more fighting. No more hunger. [NPC] Edelis: On that day we learned that we were strong, and magic could cover our basic needs. [NPC] Edelis: Shortly after those events, the Hero left and never came back. [NPC] Edelis: Even though we built this statue, most people chose to forget this period of our history. [NPC] Edelis: I believe they were the manifestation of our prayers. [NPC] Edelis: A day will come when our people will suffer again, and the Hero will return. |

| [NPC] Edelis: There are three different beliefs among the Taika. [NPC] Edelis: After we started learning magic centuries ago, most people stopped praying in the Cathedral. [NPC] Edelis: They were too busy to learn and create new spells, and even turned the Cathedral into an Academy. [NPC] Edelis: Those people will say that they believe in knowledge and magic. [NPC] Edelis: Some others still believe that it was our prayers that gave us our powers. [NPC] Edelis: They believe it was the Sky's plan to make us independent through Sulphur, and that the Sky is good and fair. [NPC] Edelis: And finally there are still very few people like me, who hold their faith in the Hero. [NPC] Edelis: The Hero was humble, yet they saved us all from doom. |
