Category | Catacombs |
The Catacombs are the only type of Dungeon in SkyBlock. They can be accessed by speaking to Mort in the Dungeon Hub or Catacombs Entrance, or by calling Mort with an Abiphone.
By default, you must be in a party of 2-5 players in order to join. However, if you acquire Saul's Recommendation from Adventurer Saul after defeating The Professor in Floor III, you can give it to Mort to join the Catacombs on your own.
Overview
The Catacombs are a series of randomly-generated rooms filled with mobs, secrets, traps, blessings, puzzles and more. Each floor or "level" has a different boss that must be defeated to earn as much loot as possible.
In the beginning of a Catacombs run, players can choose between one of five classes: Mage,
Tank,
Healer,
Archer, or
Berserk. Each of these grant unique stats and abilities, which are twice as strong when you are the only player using that class in a run.
The rewards you gain when defeating the boss are dependent on your score, which depends on how fast you completed the run, how many rooms you explored, how many secrets you found, and a couple of small bonus factors.
Most of the items you gain from the Catacombs, as well as a variety of outside items when converted, are considered Dungeon Items. These items grant heavily increased stats while in the Catacombs depending on several factors, the most notable of which is your Catacombs Level.
Floors
The floors are the different "levels" of the Catacombs. Each floor gets progressively more challenging, until the seventh floor. Every floor besides the entrance also has an optional, much harder Master Mode version, which is unlocked after the final boss is beaten on normal difficulty and a certain Catacombs Level is reached.
Every floor as well as their bosses and requirements can be as follows.
Floor | Boss | Dungeon Size | Requirements | Boss Description | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Regular | Master Mode | ||||
Entrance | ![]() |
Tiny | Combat Level XV | Not Available | This strange creature is roaming the Catacombs to add powerful adventurers to its collection. |
Floor I | ![]() |
Tiny | Catacombs Level I | Catacombs Level XXIV | Involved in the dark arts due to his parents' insistence. Originally worked as a Circus clown. |
Floor II | ![]() |
Small | Catacombs Level III | Catacombs Level XXVI | First of his class. His teacher said he will do "great things". |
Floor III | ![]() |
Small | Catacombs Level V | Catacombs Level XXVIII | Despite his great technique, he failed the Masters exam three times. Works from 8 to 5. Cares about his students. |
Floor IV | ![]() |
Small | Catacombs Level IX | Catacombs Level XXX | Powerful Necromancer that specializes in animals. Calls himself a vegetarian, go figure. |
Floor V | ![]() |
Medium | Catacombs Level XIV | Catacombs Level XXXII | Strongly believes he will become the Lord one day. Subject of mockeries, even from his disciples. |
Floor VI | ![]() |
Medium | Catacombs Level XIX | Catacombs Level XXXIV | Necromancy was always strong in his family. Says he once beat a Wither in a duel. Likes to brag. |
Floor VII | ![]() |
Large | Catacombs Level XXIV | Catacombs Level XXXVI | Disciples of the Wither King. Inherited the Catacombs eons ago. Never defeated, feared by anything living AND dead. |
The Master Mode version of Floor VII also has the Wither King as a boss after Necron, though it is not listed in game.
Master Mode
Master Mode is an optional mode that can be enabled for each floor after reaching the specified Catacombs Levels listed above. This mode makes the mobs have drastically higher Health and
Damage, adds new loot for defeating the boss, and grants much higher Class and Catacombs XP. If you're playing in Floor VII, you also get to fight the Wither King after defeating Necron.
Gameplay Rules
The Catacombs contain a set of rules that make the gameplay significantly different from other parts of SkyBlock.

Ghosts
When a player dies in the Catacombs, they turn into a Ghost. They can be seen by other players only from the ghost texture on their head.
Ghosts can only interact with their physical environment using Ghost Abilities. They can also damage Fairies to revive themselves, but other than that, they can only assist their teammates using their ghost abilities.
There are 7 different ways that a player can be revived from being a ghost:
Method Users | Method |
---|---|
Alive Players | Starting the boss fight from entering the portal in the Blood Room |
Ghosts | Having a ![]() |
Alive Players and Ghosts | Killing a Fairy in the Fairy Room or Catacombs Floor IV boss fight arena |
Alive Players | Using a ![]() |
Alive Players | Killing a Wandering Soul with the ghost's skin and name |
Alive Players | Using the Healer's revive ability or passive ability |
Ghosts | Automatically reviving in the Catacombs Entrance, Floor I, and Floor II |
Rooms and Generation
The Catacombs generate as a series of rooms connected to each other through small doorways. Some of these doors are automatically unlocked, though some require keys to be unlocked. The size of the dungeon also depends on the floor being played.
Name | Dungeon Size | Notes |
---|---|---|
Tiny | 4x4 | Applies to the Entrance, Floor I, and Floor II. |
Small | 5x5 | Applies to Floor II, Floor III, and Floor IV. |
Medium | 5x6 and 6x6 | Applies to Floor V and Floor VI. Special rooms can generate outside of the 5x5 border. |
Large | 6x6 | Applies to Floor VII. |
There are various types of rooms to find as you explore the floors.
Room Type | Description |
---|---|
Regular | There are several types of these rooms and they are needed to travel through the dungeon. There are 2x2, 1x1, 2x1, 3x1, 4x1 and L shaped rooms. |
Start | The starting room where Mort is, and where players queue up to start the run and/or change their class. |
Fairy | A room with a healing pool and Fairies that drop ![]() |
Puzzle | A room that shows up on every floor that has players complete various tasks. |
Miniboss | A room that will either hold an Angry Archaeologist, Lost Adventurer, Frozen Adventurer, Shadow Assassin, or King Midas. |
Trap | A room that shows up on Floor III and higher that disables abilities. The player has to navigate through traps in order to complete the room. |
Blood | The final room before the boss, where The Watcher spawning mobs the players must kill all in order to pass into the boss room. In the Entrance, this is the final boss room. |
A room with the minimum objectives completed will display a white 🗸 checkmark over it, while a fully completed room (with all secrets found) will display a green 🗸 checkmark. A failed puzzle room will display a red X.
The path from the starting room to the blood room always contains a fairy room and multiple randomly-selected regular rooms. There are doors between these rooms that require a Wither Key or
Blood Key to be unlocked. You can gain the key from each room by killing every mob in it that contains a ✯ star in their name. After this, the key will spawn on the ground, and it can be picked up manually, or automatically after 10 seconds to open the door.
The fairy room does not require a key to be entered. The final key is always a Blood Key, which leads to the Blood Room and then a portal to the boss room for the floor.

Blessings
Blessings are a type of temporary stat buff exclusive to the Catacombs. They can be obtained by killing Mini-Bosses or bats, opening chests, finding the Wizard's Crystal, or defeating The Watcher in Floor I and higher.
For more information about how they work and the stats they gave, see the Blessings page.

Mobs
There are a wide variety of Mobs that can spawn in the Catacombs in different areas.
- In regular rooms, standard enemies spawn in groups, with a Mini-Boss sometimes thrown in as well. When all the mobs with a ✯ star in their names are killed, a
Wither Key,
Blood Key,
Blessing, and/or
Superboom TNT will spawn in.
- In miniboss rooms, one Mini-Boss will spawn in.
- In the Blood Room, The Watcher will spawn in a variety of mobs with various abilities, as well as a random Mini-Boss on Floor III and above.
- In boss rooms, the mobs that spawn in depend on the floor being played.
For a list of every mob that can spawn in anywhere, see the Catacombs Mobs page.

Dungeon Items
Dungeon Items are items that have significantly increase stats while inside the Catacombs. They can either be obtained as such inside the Catacombs or converted into ones using Essence, and they are indicated as such by their modified rarity tag. For example, RARE SWORD converts to RARE DUNGEON SWORD. The stat boosts they gain while inside depend on your Catacombs Level, the amount of ✪ stars they have, and the amount of master stars they have.
Regular ✪ stars can be obtained and upgraded using Essence on a variety of items, not just dungeon items. Master Stars can be obtained as item loot from Master Mode floors and then applied only on to dungeon items using an Anvil.
Stat Bonuses
The stat bonuses from levels and ✪ stars are applied separately and are then multiplied on top of the item's final stat value. These bonuses only modify and multiply the stats of the item itself.
The following stats can be multiplied from the following sources:
The Catacombs Level stat bonus formula can be seen as follows. It has a maximum bonus percentage of +465%.
For ✪ stars and Master Stars, it's a little different. While inside the Catacombs, each regular star grants a +10% stat bonus, meaning the maximum bonus from them is +50%. While in Master Mode, each Master Star grants a +5% bonus on top of the base +50% bonus, meaning the maximum bonus from them is +75%.
While outside the Catacombs, regular ✪ stars each grant a +2% stat bonus, and Master Stars have no effect.
This formula can be seen as follows:
Extra Base Stats
Dungeon Items dropped from Regular Mobs and Minibosses can drop with different base stats, regardless of if you are inside the Catacombs or not. These stats depend on the floor they were dropped in, as well as a randomly generated number. There up are to 10 possible sets of base stats, which are referred to are "tiers", as shown below.
Tier | Floors | |
---|---|---|
Regular | Master Mode | |
1 | Entrance, Floor I | - |
2 | Floor II | - |
3 | Floor III | - |
4 | Floor IV | Floor I |
5 | Floor V | Floor II |
6 | Floor VI | Floor III |
7 | Floor VII | Floor IV |
8 | - | Floor V |
9 | - | Floor VI |
10 | - | Floor VII |
The stats for these different tiers can be seen on specific item pages.
Example Item Page: Ice Spray Wand
In addition to the floor-dependent base stat increases, stats of items dropped from Mobs can also be increased by up to 50%.
If the drop chance of the item is less than 1% or the bonus percentage is 50%, then only you can pick up the dropped item. If the bonus percentage is 50%, the Rarity of the item is automatically upgraded.
Item Requirements
Some Dungeon items have a certain Catacombs Level requirement to be used.
Additionally, some Dungeon items require specific floor completions to be used:
Completion Mechanics
Finishing
A Dungeon run is finished when one of the following events takes place:
Success or Fail | Method |
---|---|
Success | The Boss is defeated |
Fail | All players have turned into Ghosts or left |
Fail | 70 minutes have passed |
Scoring
Scoring in the Catacombs consists of 4 separate categories: Skill, Exploration, Speed, and Bonus. The three main categories, Skill, Exploration, and Speed, each have a score that ranges from 0 to 100. The Bonus score can vary depending on floor and Mayor perks but ranges from 0 to 17.
The Skill score ranges from 20 to 100, with 20 being the lowest score achievable. The Skill Score is calculated as such:
Each death counts as 2 points unless the player has a LEGENDARY Spirit Pet, in which case the first death only loses 1 point.
The Exploration Score depends on the percentage of dungeon completed, along with the percentage of secrets achieved. It is calculated as such:
Where the percentage of needed secrets is:
The Speed Score depends on the time needed to complete the dungeon. It is calculated as such:
If a dungeon is completed before the times listed above, you get 100/100 speed score.
If you go above the listed time you then start gradually losing points:
% over time | Points lost |
---|---|
0-20% | 1 point per extra 2% time spent. |
20-40% | 1 point per extra 4% time spent. |
40-50% | 1 point per extra 5% time spent. |
50-60% | 1 point per extra 6% time spent. |
60+% | 1 point per extra 7% time spent. |
Note: The resulting point deduction will always be rounded down to a full number.
This system might sound complicated so here are two examples:

The bonus score can be increased through several means:
Method | Bonus Score Gained |
---|---|
Paul's EZPZ Perk | +10 |
Killing Crypt Undeads | +1 per kill, up to +5 |
Killing Mimics | +2, only on Floor VI and VII |
Score Rankings are dependent on the score achieved:
Ranking | Score Required |
---|---|
S+ | At least 300 |
S | At least 270 |
A | At least 230 |
B | At least 160 |
C | At least 100 |
D | Less than 100 |
Rewards
When a player successfully completes a run in the Catacombs, they get teleported to a room containing one or multiple reward chests. There are six different types of chests, with each one generally granting better rewards than the last. They do not spawn in the Entrance, and they aren't usable for players who don't reach Class Milestone 2.

Leveling
In a similar style to most Skills, players can earn Catacombs XP as they complete or fail runs, which is used to increase their Catacombs Level. Each level grants Health, SkyBlock XP, and a permanent multiplicative stat bonus on all Dungeon Items of up to +465%.

Trivia
- The Catacombs features a vast, multi-century-long storyline, most of which is revealed in Journals.
- If you right-click on a wither skull next to a closed or open door between rooms, you'll receive one of the following random messages in chat:
Dialogue | Conditions |
[SKULL] Wither Skull: You need a Wither Key to open this door! | ⓇA random set of dialogue is chosen. Interaction |
[SKULL] Wither Skull: This is the way. | |
[SKULL] Wither Skull: That's a door, and I keep the door...there. | |
[SKULL] Wither Skull: Death awaits you on this path, and everywhere else to be fair. | |
[SKULL] Wither Skull: If you didn't find the Wither Key yet, it probably means you need to go back! | |
[SKULL] Wither Skull: Monsters with a star next to their name have Wither Keys...sometimes. |
